I just love Autumn! I get amazed every year when fall comes around and we have waves and wind almost every day! The summer obviously has lots of great days too, but not nearly as consistent. When you all of sudden get it non stop, it sooo awesome! Still some days are better than others, and this Sunday was one of those days! It wasn’t as big as it gets or anything like that, but it sure had it’s magic. It started out in morning as a light wind wave sailing session in slight side off conditions in Middles. I enjoyed that for bit more than an hour, but then the wind went down and I opted for SUP instead.
Around midday the wind turned more offshore, and I love wave sailing in offshore conditions, so it was back to windsurfing! Still really light I managed to get back out on my 5,4 and 82 liter board. It was hard work getting out, but really worth it, because as the experienced wave sailor knows, the sideoff angle really enables you to generate a lot a speed down the line despite low winds. And boy it was FUN! There was still some bigger sets coming in, and I got rewarded with half an hour of the most fun wave sailing I have had in quite a while! But then the wind went straight offshore, and I only barely got in.
After having some greasy burgers at the Hanstholm habour cafe (when you’ve had a really good session you are sometimes allowed to “pig out”, right!? It was back to SUP, as the wind was now light and straight offshore. With a little too full stomach and feeling sleepy I went to Fish Factory. That sleepy feeling however went away the moment I laid eyes at the spot! It was pumping, super clean and lining up as I haven’t seen in quite a while. It was FUN! A couple hours later the swell had died and it was time to head back to Klitmøller with a big smile glued on! After 10 hours in my wetsuit, it wasn’t too bad to get in some dry clothes. Even though my new 2013 NP surf Mission wetsuit is wicked and an absolutely pleasure to wear!
